These are all terms that can be used to describe Tariq. With skills in environmental management and spatial planning through rigorous work and dedication where the junior thesis addressed methods of integrated coastal zone management, and a masters sethis focoused on monitoring and identifying sargassum floats using satellite imagery and remote sensing in order to best help his home country brace for one of the main impacts of climate change, sea level rise that already affects communities island wide. Having studied in Glasgow, Scotland and Jamaica, an international perspective is always under consideration.

      While working for the National Spatial Data Management Branch of the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job creation He played a major role in pushing for the development of geospatial metadata standarrds, seeing the country align itself withmodern ISO standards. Additionally, tasks here helped to maximize his planning, management and supervisory abilities. Here he also became a part of the National Emergency Response GIS Team (NERGIST), contributing in the efforts in times of crisis like the 2019 Bahamas hurricane Dorian relief effort and the 2020 COVID-19 Pandemic.

Despite all his efforts, Tariq still finds time to relax in nature, through hiking and exploring. a good natured humanitarian with a penchant for making things more efficient in achieving sustainable development.

​

Work still continues as major strides have been made towards developing Jamaica's use of Sattelite imagery and Remote sensing.
